An award-winning Honolulu Weekly cartoon for 1997
While things were looking pretty bad for the Trustees, Lokelani Lindsey tried desperately to save the ship. Sparing no expense, Trustee Lindsey launched campaigns on many fronts, trying to spin the trustees in a better light. On May 6, 1999 Lokelani Lindsey was removed as a trustee by court order, the first trustee ever removed in the 114-year history of the Bishop Estate.
On October 17, 2000, Lindsey was sentenced to six months in federal prison for a bankruptcy fraud scheme. The judge said she was driven by a "misguided sense of greed and arrogance."   Honolulu Weekly cartoon 12/10/1997
